Terms & Conditions

2023 / 2024 Terms & Conditions

I like to keep things clear and concise and I’ve created these terms & conditions to be transparent, so that you know what to expect.

As your private driver guide I’m available for Multi Day Tours, Full Day Tours departing from Edinburgh and Edinburgh Day Tours.

My driver guide fees and what’s included:

→ Multi day tours starting from £595,  includes up to 9 hours of guiding time and private vehicle; 2022 LWB Ford Tourneo and complimentary hospitality basket

→ Full day tours departing from Edinburgh starting from £595,  includes up to 9 hours of guiding time and private vehicle; 2022 LWB Ford Tourneo and complimentary hospitality basket

→ Edinburgh day tour starting from £550, includes up to 9 hours of guiding time and private vehicle; 2022 LWB Ford Tourneo and complimentary hospitality basket

Small (but important) print:

→ should the tours extend beyond nine hours an additional fee may be payable, subject to availability and agreed upon prior

→ Additional costs to consider not included in my fee include: entrance fees at venues and attractions / ferry crossings / client meals and refreshments / tips and gratuities / my accommodation and meal allowance costs incurred in multi day tours / client accommodation / client travel and medical insurance

How to secure my driver guide services:

Scotland is a popular destination, particularly in the ‘warmer’ months so it’s important to secure your travel dates and itinerary promptly, and here’s how:

→ A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking

→ The remaining balance to be settled 28 days prior to the start of your trip

→ My fees are quoted in £GBP

→ Fees can be paid via Bank Transfer (Bacs), or Paypal, most credit/debit cards are accepted

→ Overseas payments may be subject to additional bank charges (approx £7-£10 from European countries, £10- £15 from Non European countries) to be met by the client.

Your luggage:

Luggage space in the vehicle is limited to one medium sized suitcase per person. If you’re travelling with additional luggage that exceeds the vehicle’s capacity I ask that you arrange alternative storage arrangements.

Travelling with young children:

If you’re bringing the family and young children it’s important to know in Scotland it’s the legal responsibility of clients travelling with children to provide child seats. The seats must comply with current Scottish legislation. https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules

Thank you in advance for your attention in this matter.

Changes and revisions to your itinerary:

Sometimes clients may ask to make changes to the itinerary once it’s been finalised and agreed upon.  I do have to limit the time I spend altering itineraries, particularly if we’re visiting remote areas or islands where accommodation, attractions and venues are in short supply. Changing the itinerary can create lots of extra work and this is not budgeted in my fee.

It’s best I start creating your itinerary once you’re clear about your preferred dates, route and places of interest.

Cancelling your trip:

It happens, life events take over and sadly cancellations are inevitable. Thankfully these occasions are very rare, nonetheless, it’s important to be informed of the cancellation policy:

→ Multi day tours, if cancelled less than 14 days from the date the tour begins 100% cancellation fee is applicable

→ Full day tours departing from Edinburgh, if cancelled less than 7 days from the date the tour begins 100% cancellation fee is applicable

→ Edinburgh Day Tour, if cancelled less than 7 days from the date the tour begins 100% cancellation fee is applicable

In the extremely unlikely event that I (Ian Linn) have to cancel your booking any monies already received will be refunded in full.

Legal stuff:

→ Liability: I(Ian Linn) do not accept liability for losses or additional expenses incurred due to delays or change in transportation (air, rail, sea or other services), technical problems to transport, sickness, disease, weather, industrial action, or other causes which are out of my control.

Although the language is simple, the intentions are serious and these terms & conditions serve as a legal document under exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts. (Ok, that’s the trickiest bit over with.)
